Xerophyllum tenax (Pursh) Nutt

As to be expected, especially by Prsident Jefferson, the men saw many new strange creatures on their expedetion.  They saw four legged, two legged, and even legless creatures on their expedition.  First there were prairie dogs (barking dogs) [left], which surprisingly made their homes underground, and they also saw an estimated three thousand buffalo.

There were also grizzly bears which, not surprisingly, were shot at.  Also, there was the jackrabbit, the pronghorn antelope, amd the mule deer.  There were dark-furred martens ("The Fishers"), sage grouses, and white trout salmon.

I am in dire need of info on the plants discovered and sampled on the expedition, if you have any please e-mail me at ryry37@hotmail.com.
